Intel has unveiled the firm's newest family of so-called 'business processors' as part of the second generation Intel Core vPro family which includes a new data theft foiling 'poison pill' feature.
The chipmaker said that the new Core vPro i5 processor can speed business applications up by as much as 60 per cent, multitasking by 100 per cent and data encryption by 300 per cent when compared wit a 3-year old Intel Core 2 Duo.
The firm cited an enhanced Turbo Boost Technology 2.0 and Advanced Vector Extensions (AVS) as the technology enhancements responsible for the performance improvements.
"Businesses face numerous challenges today, but also opportunities in the wealth of new technologies that are helping workers be more productive, businesses to be more creative and IT to be more innovative," said Intel business boss Rick Echevarria.
Security features also received a boost with a new 3.0 version of Intel Anti Theft Technology which enables authorised users to "send a coded 'poison pill' over the Internet to completely disable a lost or stolen computer and help prevent access to its encrypted data and deter theft", the company said.
