Intel has confirmed that it is also in legal proceedings against Psion to have its netbook trademark dissolved.
The vendor issued its petition to the courts earlier this month, but Dell soon joined the battle against the former PDA giant.
Intel’s petition is similar to Dell’s in that it asserts that the term ‘netbook’ has already entered the public consciousness as a generic term to describe the platform.
It adds that the last time Psion used the trademark was six years ago in 2003, and has not shown any intentions of reintroducing products bearing it into the market before now.
The chip giant is the key IT firm in the battle, as it was the company that first coined the term netbook to describe the new platform in March 2008.
