Intel introduces Extreme laptop processor

Intel introduces Extreme laptop processor Intel has announced the first mobile version of its Extreme-class of processors for high-end gaming laptops, the Core 2 Extreme X7900.

The processor, based upon old 65nm technology – specifically on Intel's Merom die, is an updated version of its desktop Extreme processors. It will come with a 2.8GHz clock speed, although it is believed it could be overclocked to 3GHz-3.2GHz.

The first two laptops to use the new processor are Asus' G2 and Dell's M1730 codenamed 'The Beast. Both laptops are on show at this years Game Convention, currently taking place in Leipzig.
