The world’s largest distributor of technology products, Ingram Micro, is to acquire UK wholesaler Computacenter Distribution (CCD) for an undisclosed sum.
CCD employees have been offered to join UK operations of Ingram Micro as part of the deal.
Computacenter Distribution is in the business of servers and storage goods in the IT sector, with Ingram Micro stating that the buyout will enhance its own infrastructure solutions and data-center capabilities.
“We’ve been building an infrastructure solutions practice for two years and in multiple countries, primarily through a Greenfield approach,” said Ingram Micro CEO Greg Spierkel.
“This acquisition demonstrates our commitment to developing this capability in Europe.”
Said Spierkel: “through this acquisition, we have a platform for expansion into new vendor lines and customer segments, along with a thriving services business. This is an exciting step in the further development of our company, providing an opportunity to share new capabilities with our operations in EMEA.”
The transaction is expected to seal in early November, subject to approval and conditions.
