The world's largest distributor held the first EMEA Vendor Summit since 2007 with over 350 vendor and country meetings.
The Budapest event acted as a stage for decision makers from across Europe, as well as global technology leaders from North America, to discuss the state of the industry and to agree on market strategies with Ingram Micro EMEA’s senior management team.
Alain Maquet, President of Ingram Micro EMEA, said that he was delighted to bring back the Vendors Summit, which has not been held since 2007, in a move that heralds renewed optimism in the channel.
"In keeping with our focus on emerging business, for the first time ever, vendors from the telecommunications industry were present at an IT distribution conference. We are impressed with all delegates’ focus on partnership – there is no doubt there will be many concrete actions that come from this summit that will help resellers deliver stronger results during these times of economic recovery," said Maquet.
At the event's kick-off, Maquet outlined Ingram Micro EMEA’s plans to accelerate growth, including the company’s new telecommunications division, Ingram Micro Logistics fee-for-service strategy, and the company’s emerging value business.
Guest Speaker Tim Curran, CEO of the Global Technology Distribution Council, gave delegates an update on the state of IT distribution worldwide. He said, "The technology sector is leading the economic recovery worldwide, and companies like Ingram Micro are showing the right kind of leadership by hosting this summit where industry leaders and decision makers can come together to assess the state of distribution and how it must evolve to add more value and generate additional growth."
