Inefficient procurement processes slow IT Managers

Theitindex.co.uk, has conducted research into the average amount of time IT managers spend negotiating the best deals with suppliers. The research comes following the common IT manager frustration, never having enough time to complete the day’s duties.

The survey gathered responses from 250 IT managers and found that nearly 20 per cent of time was sent on lengthy or inefficient buying. Of those surveyed, over 50% said that product price and 79% stated availability on product were of high importance.

Peter Robbins, MD of Probrand – owner of IT procurement portal theitindex.co.uk, explained: "We have found that the majority of IT managers spend an average of one day a week ringing round and conducting manual comparisons. This is both inefficient and costly and often does not secure the best-priced product within the fastest time. This is why 40% of managers’ time is expended on procurement and administration.”
