In The Hot Seat: Carly Hill, UK product manager, BenQ

Gooner and BenQ UK product manager for LCD and gaming Carly Hill talks about hating Tottenham and the next big thing in tech.

What’s your most embarrassing moment in the trade?
In my first year working for ATI Graphics, I was sent to CeBit for the week. This was 14 years ago now, so I was quite young and new to the industry. I was in the famous Irish bar one evening and those that have drank there will know about the step at the end of bar. It was quite late during the evening; I was standing having a conversation with a few people and took a step back. I fell down the step, wiped out three tables full of drinks, lost a shoe – and all my dignity.

Any pet hates?
Tottenham Hotspur.

Good answer. How competitive are you?
I simply do not like losing! That’s probably more to do with growing up with two brothers though. I’ve always had a competitive streak!

What’s going to be the next big thing in tech?
4K screens with 120Hz – something the gamers are very much looking forward to!

What are your favourite TV shows?
The Wire, Game of Thrones, Ray Donovan and Luther to name a few.

What are your guilty pleasures?
Anything written by John Grisham, watching any film with Tom Hardy in it – and Wagamamas!

Where do you see yourself in the next five years?
Who knows where my path will take me – probably still in the industry though.

Would you like to nominate anyone for our next ‘In the Hot Seat’?
Nick Barden from VIP Computers.
