HTC has revealed that it is in talks with three of the UK's largest mobile phone retailers to sell its phones direct. The move would signal the first time that the vendor has gone direct and bypassed distribution with Carphone Warehouse, Phones4U and JAG.
The smartphone vendor also confirmed that it had extended its distribution deal with Brightpoint for a further year, until April 2010, as well as plans to boost its marketing budget by 30 per cent as it looks to increase its presence in the UK market.
The discussions where confirmed by Catt while speaking to Mobile Today. "We've been engaging with Carphone, Phones 4u and JAG over selling directly through them. As with all manufacturers, we need to keep our options open as to how we bring our products to the market."
