HP retained its position as the number one PC vendor in EMEA after it saw growth of 24 per cent during the fourth quarter, according to figures released today by market research firm IDC.It shipped 5.57 million units during the fourth quarter of 2007, giving it a market share of 19.4 per cent. Year-on-year, it was up from 4.5 million units in 2006.
Acer also had a good Christmas with it shipping 4 million units during the period, up from 3.1 million at the end of 2006 – an increase of 27.3 per cent. It retained its place as the second largest vendor in EMEA, with 13.9 per cent of the market.
Dell managed to hold on to third place, although saw significantly less growth, with shipments during the fourth quarter increasing by 9.8 per cent. It managed to ship 2.7 million units.
In terms of full year performance, HP saw growth of 28.1 per cent while Acer saw an increase in shipments of 39.1 per cent. Dell in stark contrast only grew by 5.8 per cent.
