HP has unveiled its first multi-touch tablet PC for business users – a convertible device that can be used as either a notebook or a slate.
The EliteBook 2740p at its lightest weighs just 3.8lbs (1.7kg) and includes a 12.1-inch LED display or an optional outdoor-view display, which offers less reflection and a higher contrast for easier viewing in natural light.
The multi-touch device is designed for industries including healthcare, education and sales. When used as a notebook, it includes a DVD+/-RW drive and supports DisplayPort so it can be connected to an external monitor. The expansion base also has an eSATA port, allowing for connection to external drives.
“The HP business touch tablet is the latest addition to the broad mix of choices that HP offers business customers to best improve manageability, productivity and mobility,” said Dan Forlenza, vice president of HP’s Business Notebooks, Personal Systems Group.
HP also launched the EliteBook 2540p – the company’s lightest EliteBook laptop – and four new HP ProBook S-series notebooks.
The 2740p convertible tablet starts at $1,599 and is due to ship in the US next month. The 2540p is priced from $1,099 and is also due in the US next month, while the new Probooks start at $719 and will arrive in the States this month.
