Computing giant HP has joined the ultrabook race, with Folio.
Aimed at business users, the HP Folio is typically thin and light and delivers up to nine hours usage, which it claims makes it the longest lasting ultrabook on the market.
Specifically, it measures less than 18mm and uses an ‘ultraslim’ 13.3-inch diagonal high-definition BrightView display, and weighs 3.3 pounds.
The fast boot up time categorised by the fledgling sector is provided by Intel Rapid Start Technology. It includes a backlit keyboard for mobile users who work in low-light conditions, a full array of ports, including RJ-45 and USB 3.0, and a solid-state drive (SSD) with 128 GB of storage.
The HP Folio also features HP CoolSense technology, which uses hardware and software to cool the
device, a HP ImagePad for accurate, advanced multitouch gesture support, a HP TrueVision HD Webcam, and Dolby Advanced Audio.
“This category of product breaks new ground and will be a likely choice for businesses to offer to employees looking for a more consumer-centric experience,” said Crawford Del Prete, executive vice president, Worldwide Research Products, and chief research
officer at IDC. “We expect ultrabooks will re-ignite interest in the small form factor PC category, and by 2015 we expect 95 million ultrabooks will be shipping worldwide annually.”
It is scheduled to emerge early in December.
