The new HP Folio 13-1000 ultrabook, is to be available exclusively at Currys and PC world for the next three months priced at a penny under nine hundred quid.
Weighing just 1.5Kg and 18mm thick, the Folio 13-1000 is just as svelte as most of the thin and light notebooks featuring in Intel's ultrabook push. The device also carries the usual 13-inch screen and is based on a Sandy Bridge Core i5-2467M with the anaemic HD 3000 graphics.
While a key ultrabook model from the world number one PC maker available only at Dixons and Currys is something of a blow to independent retailers, there's no shortage of alternative models from other vendors.
Meanwhile DSG is hoping that the ultrabook will be met with healthy consumer demand. PC World already has the Folio 13-1000 up for grabs online.
"We are expecting the new category of ultrabooks, in particular the HP Folio 13-1000ea, to become one of our best-selling range of computing products," said DSG computing boss Mark Slater.
