Several of the world's largest IT vendors have been slammed in Greenpeace's latest green electronics ranking report.
HP, Dell and Lenovo were the three IT firms criticised the heaviest, with most of the attention focusing on their inability to meet the target Greenpeace had set for vendors to remove PVCs and BRFs from their computers by the end of this year.
Lenovo has said that its products will now be free by the end of 2010, while HP and Dell have stopped providing dates altogether.
Apple's recent campaign to promote its green credentials went down well with the NGO, but Greenpeace still said it had far to go as it had set its PVC and BRF free thresholds "unreasonably high".
Only Nintendo scored lower than HP, Dell and Lenovo.
The survey compares and marks all major consumer electronics and IT firms based on their recycling policies, environmental efforts and the chemical content and energy consumption of their products.
