The Government is set to reduce its IT expenditure in Whitehall by half a million pounds as it continues to reduce government spending.
According to Silicon.com, the move has come as part of an ongoing programme to review all IT projects that are worth more than one million pounds.
The scheme will also see the amount of expenditure made with suppliers reduced by a further £800 million, which is expected to hit IT suppliers hard, however the standardised Public Sector Network programme is exempt as it was felt that delaying the project would have negative consequences.
Other projects under review include the Department of Health’s Spine database, the G-Cloud project and the FireControl project.
