Google set to celebrate tenth birthday

Google set to celebrate tenth birthday Google is set to celebrate its tenth birthday on Sunday, but the firm is continuing to keep an eye on its competition with the firm's chief executive admitting to the Financial Times that the recent launch of Chrome was a move against Microsoft's dominance of the browser market.

Much speculation has been mooted that IE8's ability to block access to user's browsing habits may have prompted the move, something that could heavily impact Google's current advertising revenues.

Eric Schmidt also added that Explorer's default setting to use Microsoft's own Live search was a worry: "Microsoft has a history of favouring its own applications and I can give you 500,000 pages of court testimony...and so on about that."
