Google has opened its OneBox service, which is hoped will help the search specialist break in to the burgeoning music download market.
According to the BBC, OneBox has been formed by an alliance with the Lala and iLike music sites.
As mentioned in a previous article, the new OneBox music pages feature package images and album art for musicians and provide links to news, lyrics, previews and downloads. However, at this time the service will only be available in the United States.
“At Google, we see millions of music-related queries every day,” said Googles vice president of search, Marissa Mayer. “It is clear to us that for our users music holds a very special and particular place.”
