Google is set to deliver real time service alerts for the London Underground in Google Maps, ahead of the 2012 Olympics in the capital.
"We’ll let you know of any disruptions on the Underground that are happening at the time you need them most," wrote Google transit chief Thijs van As on the Google Lat Long blog.
The information will be available on both the web-based maps.google.co.uk and the Google Maps for Android application. Clicking on stations will show the status of the Underground lines and any alerts will also be displayed when using the ‘get directions’ planner.
"Whether you call London home or you’re one of the expected 31 million tourists visiting the city this year, we know that the addition of service alerts to Google Maps will make your travels across the city easier, faster and more convenient," said van As.
