Search giant Google has enabled feature that enables blocking of types of sites the user doesn’t wish to see in search results.
A new link will now appear next to the ‘cached’ link for each search result which enables blocking of all future results for the specific domain name. Blocked domains are tied to the user’s Google account so they become effective on any computer, assuming the user is logged in.
"Perhaps the result just wasn’t quite right, but sometimes you may dislike the site in general, whether it’s offensive, pornographic or of generally low quality," Google search quality engineers Amay Champaneria and Beverly Yang on the Google Blog.
"For times like these, you’ll start seeing a new option to block particular domains from your future search results."
Google said the new feature is rolling out on google.com in English for people using Chrome 9+, IE8+ and Firefox 3.5+ browsers.
