Sony and Intel have joined forces with Google to bring a new generation of internet TVs and set top boxes to market, in a project called Google TV.
According to Reuters, the scheme has been under way for several months and utilises Android software to make it easy for consumers to use web apps like Twitter through their TV sets.
The group aims to lure software developers to create a portfolio of third party applications, and hardware vendor Logitech is reported to already be developing a number of peripherals, such as micro keyboards.
