Google puts explorer edition back on sale in US

Google Glass 2 reportedly in development

The next version of Google Glass is rumoured to already be in the early stages of development.

While there are no reports on specs or pricing, laoyaoba.com has reported that Crystal Optech is supplying small quantities of optical coatings for a ‘second-generation Google Glass’.

Yesterday (May 13th), Google decided to open Glass sales up to everyone in the US in a 24-hour sale.

Costing $1,500, Google has today put the ‘explorer edition’ back on general sale.

While consumers try to get their hands on to a pair before Google runs out of stock, other tech firms are planning to compete with Glass by releasing their own smartglasses.

Samsung is currently developing Galaxy Glass, which is rumoured to debut at the IFA trade show in Berlin in September.

Last year we reported on the ION Glasses, which aim to compete with Google on price and simplicity.
