Amazon and Google appear to be competing on who can discount their online storage services the most.
On Monday, Google announced that it would be offering a 20 per cent discount on its new Cloud platform features, including cloud storage and compute capabilities.
Not to be outdone, Amazon made its own announcement on Wednesday that it would be reducing prices on its Web Services portfolio by 24 to 27 per cent, due to be implemented on December 1st.
However, the saga has continued today, as Google has increased its own discount by ten per cent, bringing it up to a 30 per cent discount in total and trumping Amazon’s offer.
“We are committed to delivering the best value in the marketplace to businesses and developers looking to operate in the cloud,” read a statement from Google.
“That’s why today we are reducing the price of Google Cloud Storage by an additional 10 per cent, resulting in a total price reduction of over 30 per cent.”
