New Zealand is the latest country to have been hit by a widespread problem that is currently causing headaches for Brother and many of its printer customers.The problem, identified as 'Brother Error 41', is believed to be due to a batch of faulty printer heads that have been installed in various models over the past couple of years.
Speaking to the Christchurch paper The Press, a local technician said that his company was hearing increasingly from disgruntled Brother customers. "We noticed it wasn't an isolated incident. It was happening in other places in New Zealand, as well as around the world," he said. "The print heads should have been recalled years ago."
Many of the problems have been caused by new printer heads costing NZ$170 plus labour while some of the printers affected only cost NZ$99.
The company has acknowledged the problem with its machines, with marketing manager for Brother International, Michael Smith acknowledging that the rate of 'error 41' related problems were unacceptably high.
