Gigabyte Technology has jumped on the low-cost PC bandwagon, with plans to launch its own PC in June.Richard Ma, vice president of Gigabyte, revealed that the low-priced PC will feature Intel’s Basic Platform and will feature a panel size of seven to nine inches.
Gigabyte has also plans to roll out mobile internet devices and ultra-mobile PCs, using Intel’s new Menlo platform. These devices are due for release in April, and Ma believes this will see Gigabyte’s notebook business hit profit later in the year.
Ma claimed that the desktop PC segment will continue to grow, but at a slower pace than notebooks. He also said that motherboard and graphic cards should see solid demand over the next three years, with Ma predicting a ten per cent growth for Gigabyte throughout 2008.
