Gem has signed a deal with Paramount to distribute two blockbuster movies via memory stick.
In November, retailers will stock USB sticks containing the latest Star Trek movie, as part of a deal between picture company Paramount and distributor Gem.
Michael Bay’s Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen will also retail via the memory stick.
Of course, both films will be available via DVD and Blu-ray, but the move is part of Paramount’s – and indeed the movie industry’s – attempt to adapt to an increasing digital age.
Through USB, these movies can be watched on netbooks, laptops, consoles and even some Blu-ray players. However, they will set customers back £19.99.
“We are delighted to be working with Gem to bring these commented,” a Paramount spokesperson said. “Expanding our entertainment offerings on USB is becoming increasingly important as more movies are viewed on multiple devices.”
