The news means that Harlow based Gem will be the only UK distributor to offer all of Microsoft’s new software. Since the deal, Gem says that it will be a one-stop-shop for Windows Vista, Office 2007 and Microsoft Windows Live OneCare, while the firm will also be supplying third party solutions which supplement the new operating system’s features.
“We are very pleased to be the only distributor for OneCare in the UK and we look forward to offering our customers the complete solution for Microsoft retail products,” said Neil Handa, marketing manager at Gem. “Gem has created a dedicated digital lifestyle living room at its offices, featuring products which come together to form part of today’s digital home. This allows our customers to experience Windows Vista and 3rd party products working together as a complete solution.”
Released on January 30th, Microsoft Windows Live OneCare provides anti-virus, anti-spyware, anti-phishing, data backup and restore functions, firewall, and performance maintenance – all of which will automatically update as long as the user’s subscription is active.
