Acer will relaunch the Gateway brand at the end of this month, with the vendor revealing its plans to introduce netbooks and servers under the marquee before the end of this year, according to the Register.
It was announced in February that the brand, which Acer acquired back in 2007, was to become the vendor's SME-focused division. It also revealed that like its parent company, Gateway would be exclusively channel focused.
Part of that commitment will see the company showing off the new range of products at this year's Channel Expo, which kicks off tomorrow (May 20th). Those models include its 12-inch and 15.4-inch laptops, as well as its desktop offerings.
Speaking to the Register, Gateway's UK and Ireland managing director Philip Ashkar said that much of the delay in rolling out its channel programme was down to it and its distribution partner C2000, working out the 'complexities' of setting it up.
According to Ashkar, the vendor is looking for around 30-40 partners in the UK, all of which are focused on SMEs. He added that while none had signed up yet, there were several that were currently in the testing stages, and were assessing its offerings.
