Gamescom 2015 draws record attendee numbers with rise in trade visitors

A record 345,000 visitors from 96 countries attended Gamescom 2015 this year, confirming its status as the largest event for PC and video games.

In comparison, 335,000 attended in 2014.

In terms of trade visitors, 33,200 flocked to Cologne last week – up from 31,500 last year.

806 companies got involved with the show, exhibiting their wares, holding meetings and announcing new products and games, with 6,000 journalists in attendance.

Gamescom 2015 ran from August 5th to 9th, with an expanded exhibition surface spanning 193,000 square metres. This year’s partner country was the UK.

630 participants attended the conference, with more than 150 speakers discussing the influence of digital games on the economy, society, education and culture in over 40 panels and lectures.

The ‘Most successful title’ award went to EA’s Star Wars Battlefront which is due to launch later this year.

Gamescom 2016 will take place from August 17th to 21st.
