Games Market Europe looks to boost UK trade

Games Market Europe looks to boost UK trade by Lisa Foster

A new UK trade show has been launched, with Games Market Europe being spearheaded by former ECTS event director Andy Lane.

After the battle between rival trade shows EGN and ECTS last year, it had seemed possible that there would be no UK event this year. However, GME looks set to fill the void, with the show taking place at the Business Design Centre on August 31st and September 1st.

?After the confusion of the last couple of years, the games market has been asking for a single, focused nononsense event ? Games Market Europe is this event,? said Lane. ?It delivers on every front: it provides the right environment for business and networking, it?s in the right place and it?s the right price.

He added: ?The UK is the home of the games business in Europe and we believe it is essential that we deliver the right event in the UK this year.

?The feedback has been tremendous and, indeed, we sold ten per cent of the event before we had a floor plan. I?m looking forward to growing Games Market Europe in the continent?s de facto games exhibition and showcase.?
