Dallas Fort Worth airport is trialling a series of gadget kiosks with Zoom Systems, which it hopes will revolutionise the way consumers buy technology. While gadget kiosks are not a new phenomenon, especially in their native Japan, it is the first time that they are being rolled out in airports.
It is hoped that the kiosks, which are stocked with a variety of travel-focused gadgets like Nintendo DS' and iPods, will prove popular with travellers looking to make impulse purchases.
Zoom has teamed up with US retailer Best Buy to trial the kiosks in the Texas airport, with plans to further roll out the technology should it prove successful, with the vendor hinting at other possible retailer partnerships in the near future.
