Former Google staff launch rival site

Andrew Wooden
Former Google staff launch rival site A number of former Google employees have launched a rival search engine called Cuil, which they claim offers a more comprehensive listing of websites.

The word is apparently the Gaelic term for knowledge and hazel.

The engine uses different technology to other search engines, which is supposed to be able to be able to identify the context of web pages as well as the search requests themselves.

The makers of Cuil also claim unlike Google it will not retain any information about the user, a subject of much controversy in recent months.
