A new software e-tailer called Downloadbuyer.com has begun trading, led by industry stalwart Jon Silvera, who was most recently commercial director at software publisher Avanquest.
The site is populated with hundreds of download only programmes for Mac and PC, and is looking to become "a major destination store for downloadable software."
The current range includes games, security, education, image editing and virtualisation products, and has a strong focus on interactivity. Amongst the features it plans to roll out soon include a live chat function, allowing customers to get feedback from representatives, get specific information, and negotiate deals.
The site is also populated with a number of corporate and consumer reviews.
The operation is currently funded entirely privately, but the management looks to be hunting for investment from external parties.
"We are a new company and as such it is difficult to establish a value to the business at present," states Silvera in the corporate site. "However should interested investors or potential acquirers feel we either have something they need or that we are 'one to watch' then we will be happy to discuss all opportunities."
The site can be found here.
