Best Buy looks set to go head-to-head with DSGi after it emerged that one of the launch locations would be the same retail park that its UK rival is currently trialling its big box format store in.According to Retail Week, the locations of the first four stores are Bath Road Retail Park in Slough, Two Rivers Retail Park in Staines, Thurrock Retail Park in Essex and Enfield Retail Park, the location of DSGi's new format PC World.
There are also indications that the retailer is looking at a central London location – possibly Regent Street – for a flagship store, with initial speculation suggesting that its eye might have been on Zavvi's Piccadilly Circus store, although Zavvi was quick to play down that rumour.
The retailer operates a mix of city centre and out-of-town outlets in the US, however, the retailer has indicated to PC Retail previously that it is planning around 20 stores in the UK in its first year, all of which are expected to be large, big box stores.
