The family of a young girl stated that police came and seized the youngsters Winnie the Pooh laptop amidst claims of piracy.
It is believed that local anti-piracy group CIAPC determined the girl had illegally downloaded copyrighted files at the family home and quickly alerted police of the activity.
The anti-piracy group has come under heavy-fire as it reportedly tracked the girl – which it believed to be a fire-sharer – and allegedly demanded a cash settlement.
Upon arrival at the address, Finnish police raided the household and subsequently seized the girl’s laptop after the father refused to pay the €600 fine that was issued.
An explanation from the girl’s father highlights that she attempted to download the latest album from songstress Chisu after a number of web searches.
However, the downloads reportedly failed and the family subsequently purchased the album from a local store the following day.
"We have not done anything wrong with my daughter. If adults do not always know how to use a computer and the web, how can you assume that children or the elderly – or a 9-year-old girl – knows what they are doing at any given time online?" the girl’s father explained.
As authorities continue to crack down on piracy, it seems that they’re willing to go to any length to do so. Even if it means taking way the Winnie the Pooh laptop of a minor.
