Asus is hoping to alleviate shortages of its Eee PC in Europe by May after it emerged that demand is outstripping supply by up to 70 per cent, according to the firm's president Jerry Shen.Speaking to Chinese language newspaper Apple Daily, Shen said that he is confident that the company can resolve the shortage issue that is plaguing the device in Europe by the beginning of May.
He blamed much of supply issue on the shortage of batteries for the device that the company is currently experiencing. Despite that, Shen said that he is still confident that the company can reach its target of shipping between 650,000-700,000 units in the first quarter of 2008.
Shen added that Asustek is confident that the company could move into fifth place in Europe in terms of notebook sales, with projected sales of 3.5 million units during the second half of this year.
