DSGi has revealed that it will be opening its first ever PC World in an airport, as well as a further two Dixons Tax Free and the new Dixons Tax Free Accessories stores, when Heathrow's Terminal 5 opens on March 27th.The retail group took the wraps off the new stores, promising a 'bright, light and airy' shopping experience. Both stores will have the latest technology stocked in them at airport prices, ranging from HDTVs through to Apple laptops.
The Dixons stores will also play host to a new retail concept of 'play tables', where customers will be able to try out the latest products, aimed at airline travellers.
It revealed that the first PC World store will be located in the main terminal, featuring a range of products, from the latest in business and travel-orientated items, through to a wide selection of Apple laptops.
The two Dixons Tax Free stores – one located in the main terminal with the PC World store, and the other in the long haul satellite terminal – will stock the usual range of cameras, MP4 players, laptops and other services.
Finally, the new Dixons Tax Free Accessories store marks a launch of a new store format aimed at those who are short of time and need to make last minute add-on purchases such as batteries, chargers or headphones.
Speaking about the launch, DSGi's managing director of airport retail, Andrew Milliken said: "T5 will house the largest concentration of passengers in Europe – all under one roof.
"We are thrilled to be able to offer our customers such a variety of stores, each specially designed to match specific passenger needs, in this single airline terminal. We believe passengers will be surprised and delighted by what they find in all our T5 stores," he added.
Nick Ziebland, Terminal 5's retail director echoed Milliken's enthusiasm about the store launches. "The new stores, including the first ever PC World airport store, will offer the latest products to passengers travelling through Heathrow’s new Terminal 5.
"PC World and Dixons Tax Free are both established technology brands which offer exciting and innovative ranges – a perfect fit for the new British Airways terminal."
