Dixons Stores Group employees have reportedly branded shoppers as “stupid” in a group page on a social networking site.
According to BBC News, the unofficial ‘DSGi Employees’ Facebook group featured comments from past and present staff and had around 3,000 members.
Members apparently posted unflattering comments about “stupid” shoppers, including one individual, who asked whether it would be acceptable to use a cattle prod on difficult customers.
DSGi, which owns chains including PC World and Currys, said in a statement to the BBC:
"We have clear guidelines for staff and will investigate any alleged abuse of customers. Delivering excellent customer service is at the forefront of everything we do, and so we are very disappointed that a small number of our colleagues have made these comments on a social-networking website."
The company added that any staff found to be behaving inappropriately would be dealt with using the “necessary action”.
Since the Facebook group was exposed, one of the administrators reportedly posted the comment: "Just want to say thanks to all the understanding customers out there who make our lives easier, please continue to shop with us."
