DSGi is to step up of its renewal and transformation programme with 120 stores to be refitted by the end of 2009
According to Mobile Today, around 120 stores will be refurbished throughout its portfolio under the 'Get Connected' theme, with 15 of those expected to be Currys.digital outlets. The retailer hopes to have reopened 40 of its 100 High Street stores under the new format by the end of 2010.
A spokesperson for the retailer said: "We are now accelerating our transformation. We see Currys Digital as becoming the High Street destination for the latest portable technology."
The change is part of its plan to remove all kitchen appliances and other white goods from its Currys.digital stores, increasing the emphasis on laptops, imaging, portable audio, gaming and other consumer electronics.
The new stores will also have similar aspects to Apple's retail stores, with 'play tables' that allow customers to get hands on with the products without the need to ask for an assistants help.
