Chipmaker DisplayLink showed off new hardware that takes USB 3.0 connection and provides ethernet and high resolution video.

As reported by Semiaccurate, DisplayLink is soon to launch a component that will enable adaptors that can provide a 2560 x 1600 display from a single USB 3.0 port.

The firm doesn't make the adaptors themselves but showed off prototypes of devices that offered dual-link DVI but HDMI outputs also, with final hardware pricing expected to be in the region of $80 for an adaptor and $150 for a dock.

The dock version of the chip will be cabale of driving two 1920 x 1080 displays. The chip utilises the impressive 5Gbps bandwidth available via USB 3.0 in order to deliver full HD video.
