Irish tablet maker Disgo has launched a 10.1-inch Android 4.0 tablet called the Disgo Tablet 8104, priced at less than £150.

As the latest example of the rise of the cheap tablet market, the Disgo Tablet 8104 actually has some pretty good specs. The 10.1-inch 1024x600 pixel screen is mated with a 1.2GHz single-core ARM Cortex A8, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of flash, 802.11n WiFi and a micro SD card slot.

The 8104 is just 9.1mm thick and comes with a decent 6.5AH battery which is good for around six hours of use. While the tablet ships with Android 4.0, there's no Google Play store so owners will need  to either install apps directly or use an alternative app store such as SlideMe.

The Chinese-made Boxchip A10, which features in any number of low-end Android tablets, is hardly going to shame any ARM A9-based dual-core processors in high-end Android phones and tablets. However it does offer the highly competent Mali 400 GPU so the tablet should be pretty good at 3D games too.

The device is priced at £149 and will go on sale in May from, and other retailers. None of them seem to list the 8104 right now but Value Media lists the tablet for an even lower £138, with nearly 1,000 in stock. Or so they say.
