Dell and kids’ TV company Nickelodeon have joined forces to create a new netbook designed specifically for children.
Based on the Inspiron Mini 10v netbook, the Dell Inspiron Mini Nickelodeon Edition weighs less than 3lbs, with a 10.1 inch LCD display and built in wireless internet access. The choice of decoration includes Nickelodeon’s trademark green slime, or hit TV shows Spongebob Squarepants and iCarly.
Children will be able to use a Nickelodeon-themed interface and widget to access the Nick.com website, and a desktop animation to find educational content on Whyville.net. Parents can monitor and control their children’s internet activity with a free 15-month subscription to McAfee Family Security.
If a Nickelodeon netbook is lost or stolen, it will even be able to report its location online using built-in LoJack technology similar to that commonly used in vehicles.

Second, provide superior educational content as well as a world-class entertainment experience. Third, partner with trusted brands. The Dell Inspiron Mini Nickelodeon Edition passes with flying colours on all counts.”
The netbooks will be available from October.
