Dell is set to go head-to-head with retailers across the channel following the launch of its new online download store, which will sell a variety of software, games and music.Amongst the software that the vendor will be stocking for download include products from Kaspersky, Nero and Roxio. It is also stocking a wide range of PC games including Fear 2, Football Manager 2009 and Lord of the Rings: Conquest.
Dell said the move was all about helping its customers purchase their software from a single convenient location, in the same way that many already purchase their music and movies. "Consumers are very accustomed to downloading music and moves online, but many are still buying shrink-wrapped software," commented Dell Europe's director of consumer marketing David Clifton.
"We're now offering customers the choice to purchase the music and software they wants, and download it direct to their PC from one convenient location."
