Dell has initiated hundreds of layoffs at some of its United States facilities. The workforce reductions, due to take place in central Texas, North Carolina and at two facilities near Nashville, Tennessee, follow the loss of 1900 jobs in Ireland last month and a significant management reshuffle in January.
Dell’s spokesman David Frink told The Austin American-Statesman: “The layoffs are not about individual performance, but about properly sizing Dell's business for the economy and business environment.”
“We’ve been streamlining the company where it makes sense for more than a year. Any actions this week are part of that effort.”
