Dell makes 2010 green pledge

Dell makes 2010 green pledge Dell has vowed that all of the PCs that it produce by 2010 will use around 25 per cent less power than those that currently roll of its production belt.

Amongst the initiatives designed to reduce energy consumption include changing circuit designs, fans and power management features in all of its desktops and laptops. It has also said that it is working with its component partners to deliver more efficient chipsets, power supplies and memory.

Dell's vice president of power and infrastructure solutions said in a statement: "Our customers are inspiring us to address the environmental challenges facing our planet. We've listened to them and are designing next-generation technologies that dramatically reduce energy consumption, driving meaningful cost savings and help achieve a low-carbon economy."
