Dell has launched the new Latitude 14 7000 Series laptops for businesses, which it says are the "most secure" Ultrabooks available.
The Latitude features 4th Gen Intel Core processors, Windows 8 Pro, a 14-inch screen and a Tri-metal chassis with a powder-coated base. It weighs 3.6lbs (1.63kg) and is 21mm thick.
It can house SSD or Solid-State Hybrid Drives, has an integrated HD webcam and mic array, as well as a backlit keyboard and a swappable battery.
Dell says the Latitude 7000 is its "most secure business Ultrabook", with "comprehensive encyption, strong authentication and leading-edge malware prevention". Its protected with Dell Data Protection Encryption – which protects data on any device across external media and in the cloud – plus a FIPS 140-2-certified TPM is coming soon which allows for secure credential storage.
Dell’s automated tools and utilities promise to save time and eliminate guesswork, while Dell Configuration, Deployment Services and Dell Imaging Services also aim to improve the user experience.
An executive carrying case, mini display port to VGA adapter and Dell M110 UltraMobile Projector are also available as additional accessories.
"Reliability is always a concern, especially considering rollout periods," said David Ruth, director of Dell’s commercial PC group, as reported by Mashable.
"Are there options I can have in my system that allow me to keep a system that I deploy now fresh in an environment four years from now? Are there hardware features I can buy that will address evolving trends?"
"The common theme here is we designed an Ultrabook from the ground up that is not compromised from a commercial notebook standpoint."
