Dabs confirmed on Friday that it is to lay off ten per cent of its workforce, blaming the rapidly changing market for the move.The online retailer, which recently spoke to PC Retail, announced that it would be cutting 20 jobs from its workforce of 240.
Speaking to local newspaper Bolton News, a spokesperson for the firm said: "Like any business, dabs.com has to keep its budgets under constant review and 20 of 240 employees will be affected.
BT-owned Dabs blamed changing market conditions for the move, but steered clear of directly blaming the economy: "The company is working in a market that is very different from last year.
"We want to grow the business by being more competitive and efficient and we are making a number of changes to help achieve this," added the spokesperson.
When asked when the job cuts would take place, the firm said: "We are advising all staff of this and working with those affected to ensure that they are treated appropriately."
