DSGi has confirmed that it will be opening a Currys megastore at Thurrock's Lakeside Shopping Centre later this year.
The store will occupy the 100,000 sq ft former ILVA unit, which has been nicknamed 'The Death Store' after several high profile failures, including Marks and Spencers ill-fated Lifestore chain and its former occupant, which went into administration in June.
Commenting on the nickname given by the site by the retail channel, a spokesperson for DSGi told the Telegraph: "firstly, this makes us third time lucky. And secondly, this will be a huge concept store. If that can't do it, then nothing can."
The new store will be on the same retail park as one of the first Best Buy stores, which are due to open by the end of 2010.
