Conservatives promise to help retail

Conservatives promise to help retail The Conservatives have promised to help independents by setting up a commission to investigate issues currently facing small shops, as well as those that may affect them in the near future.

The political party's Parliamentary Enterprise Group has set up a commission to look into the future of the country's independent retailers and to investigate was in which the Government can encourage regeneration of town centres.

Among the issues the commission will be looking at are planning, parking and transportation, local taxes, rents and other allied costs, crime against business and the person, and retail competition.

The commission will also be involved heavily in looking at below-cost selling as previously reported by PC Retail.
