This year’s Computex will see 1,712 exhibitors, according to statistics from its organisers the Taipei Computer Association, representing a one per cent drop from the 1,725 at last years show.
This draws a stark contrast to Germany’s CeBit, which reported a 20 per cent fall in numbers and Las Vegas’ CES, which saw a decline of seven per cent.
According to the Taipei Times, mobile PCs are set to be the stars of the show, with Asus and Acer both expected to make announcements, and Micro-star has said it will be showcasing its next generation notebooks.
Intel will be unveiling some new processors and the forthcoming release of Microsoft’s Windows 7 – which includes touch support – is expected to breathe new life in to the All-in-One segment.
“Apparently, exhibitors are hoping to turn the crisis into opportunities by displaying powerful and smartly designed products at Computex,” said the deputy secretary-general of the Taipei Computer Association Chag Li.
