Co-op electricals to break ?100m barrier

Co-op electricals to break ?100m barrier The Co-operative Group is expecting its sales of electricals to break the £100 million barrier for the first time this year, following the Heart of England Co-operative Society joining its buying group last week.

The move now means that stores in Coventry, Warwickshire and south Leicestershire will join others in the East of England, Midlands and Plymouth Co-ops in the organisation's electrical buying group.

Speaking about the announcement to ERTweekly, chief executive of The Co-operative Group, Peter Marks said that the expansion would allow it to gain larger economies of scale and to pass on the savings to around 200 food and 40 non-food stores, as well as its e-tail store.
