CNET.com has announced that Dan Farber has been appointed as the new editor-in-chief of CNETnews.com, replacing outgoing editor-in-chief and senior vice president Jai Singh who will leave on March 10th.Farber has over 20 years experience as an editor and journalist, having worked previously as the VP of editorial at ZDnet. He has also served stints at PC Week and MacWeek, and was the founding editor of MacWorld.
"CNET News.com has a tradition of great journalism and pioneering new media,” Farber stated. “I'm looking forward to working with the CNET News.com team.”
Executive vice president of CNET Joe Gillespie added: “I am thrilled to have Dan as the editorial voice of CNET News.com.
“Under his leadership, ZDNet became a place where today's hottest issues around business technology are reported and debated, and I know he’ll bring that same energy to CNET News.com and it will continue to be the place people come to learn about and discuss a world gone digital.”
And of departing Singh Gillespie stated: “Jai has been instrumental to the success of CNET.com, from building a world-class news organization to overseeing CNET’s product reviews process. Jai’s departure is the end of an era at CNET and we will all miss him.”
